As the school year winds to an end, I am looking back over the year to help prepare myself for the next one. In the second year of my Consultant term, I’ve learned even more about my job, education as a whole, and most importantly myself.
As I continued learning and leading within my role, I’ve gained a few tips and tricks to help manage the roller coaster of duties, topics and conflicts that can occur. I’ve found it necessary to ensure that I surround myself with great teachers, that inspire me to remember the passion and excitement of teaching at the forefront of what we do. Developing and implementing program is interesting work and the connections I’ve made with staff across the board in the process has been informative and invigorating.
With so many topics to cover, glitches to help fix and programs to enhance, it is easy to get caught up in the day to day to do list and lose sight of the bigger picture. As the year has progressed, I have learned some great ways to help keep me in the zone, energized and excited to head to work every day including good quality and at least 7 hours of sleep, daily exercise, time to spend with my family and friends. When all of those things come together, I find myself more productive, creative and happy in my job.
One thing I’m looking to fix is the fact I ran out of time to blog and reflect regularly. As we wind down, I hope to spend the summer getting back into this activity I enjoy so much. What a perfect way to get back into it today, reflecting after my first day at ISTE 2016! Can’t wait to learn, share and plan for next year!
