The summer although relaxing and recharging can sometimes seem long to those of us who thrive being surrounded by other like minded individuals. The summer of fun, memory making and relaxing with my family is always much needed and necessary, but the opportunity to “talk shop” and to be inspired by those around me can sometimes be lacking. It is this love of learning, sharing and exploring that makes me eager for the return to work. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read my share of professional readings, followed education on Twitter and had conversations with others but I think I’ve reached the point where I’m missing being immersed in the language, thinking and projects on a daily basis.
While contemplating these thoughts today I happened upon a well timed Twitter quote that really made me reflect on my plans for the upcoming school year.

This simple statement reminded me what I love about education…there are no right answers. Our job is to simply keep working until we find what works best. The amazing, yet sometimes frustrating, fact is that what works today, may not be what works tomorrow!
As I enter into another year of education I too will be searching for this “sweet spot”, the spot where technology enhances my job, increases my knowledge all the while supporting the educational beliefs and learnings as I connect with other educators who are forever searching for those “answers” to their educational pursuits. I’m sure this “sweet spot” will forever feel just out of my reach, but to be honest, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
I look forward to the challenges, the hard work, difficult conversations and the learning that the new school year will bring. I look forward to the satisfaction of successful projects, the connections that will be made and the opportunity to connect with other educators. I look forward to another year immersed in education.
